As part of the first ever familiarisation program for Non-resident Ambassadors and High Commissioners accredited to Fiji from Canberra and Wellington, the delegation visited Daku village in Tailevu on Wednesday 21st August 2019.

They had the opportunity to interact with the community and see firsthand impacts of the climate change. The delegation's visit to Daku Village was led by Fiji’s High Commissioner to Australia, Mr Luke Daunivalu and Fiji's High Commissioner to New Zealand Mr Filimone Waqabaca. The visit also enabled the demonstration of partnership between the Daku community and USAID through the development Coastal Community Adaptation Project (C-CAP) Flood gate Rehabilitation Project.

The delegation and Daku village leaders and the community had a talanoa session to discuss the potential cooperation platforms to be strengthened with Fiji to collaboratively address the challenges faced as a result of climate change
